Introducing ‘The Pittsburgh Record’
Postindustrial launches its first daily newsletter and podcast

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of “The Pittsburgh Record,” Postindustrial’s first original daily email newsletter and podcast.
“The Pittsburgh Record” is the new brand for Adam Shuck’s lunchtime Pittsburgh news roundup “Eat That, Read This,” which he’s been faithfully producing every day for five years. The newsletter will be similar in style to ETRT and sent to subscribers around noon, and the accompanying podcast will post around 4 p.m. to ensure those who’d rather listen than read still get their daily dose of Pittsburgh news.
As newshounds, we’re longtime fans of Shuck’s work. I subscribed to ETRT in September 2014, just a few months after it launched, and I view his curation and criticism as essential to being an informed citizen of Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh has been without a daily newspaper for nearly a year; the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette eliminated the Tuesday and Saturday print editions as of August 2018, and the Pittsburgh edition of the Tribune-Review ceased print publication in November 2016.
And yet, Pittsburgh isn’t short on daily local journalism. Many outlets — from the PG and the Trib to newer organizations like PublicSource, The Incline, and the Pittsburgh Current — are producing stellar journalism, holding government accountable, and telling amazing stories.
But it’s not all in one place. That’s why we’re calling the newsletter “The Pittsburgh Record” — we aim to create a comprehensive daily record of the news by curating the best stories from Pittsburgh and the region. The podcast of the same name, hosted by Shuck, will detail the top stories of the day and chronicle other headlines from various news outlets to ensure listeners are caught up on the region’s daily news by the time they sit down to dinner.
